.
JAGUAR 2.9 XJ6/XJ40 1989 MANUAL LPG
CONVERSION
A full MOT is enjoyed by this classic car.
Cheap to run on LPG, but will also run on petrol. This is an unusual car given
the manual gearbox and lpg conversion by Autogas. Resprayed metallic maroon 3
years ago by an avid Motherwell supporter with all exposed surfaces resprayed -
a nice car!
Currently sporting 4 new tyres and a history
of improvements over the last 18 months.
- Registered new on 1 August 1989, mileage
just over 89,000.
- Fitted with 2.9 litre engine and manual
gearbox MOT 'd til March 2005
- This car has been professionally fitted
with LPG (propane gas) conversion which enables running costs to be halved at
current LPG gas prices
- The LPG conversion has a Certificate to
prove the conversion is competent for insurance The car will run well on either
petrol or LPG Gas
- It does about 18mpg on LPG (which is
equivalent to around 36 mpg based on petrol prices). LPG gas price is from only
33p a litre!!!
- It has been resprayed by the previous
owner less than 2 years ago as he was a fanatical Motherwell FC supporter
- The original Jaguar radio/cassette is
fitted, and the interior woodwork is in nice condition
- Jaguar alloys and 4 new tyres keep this
dream tight on the road
- I have had the car serviced over the 18
months I've had it
- The interior is really nice
- The exterior is very good for age and
chrome work is good
- It has the full electric kit - electric
windows all round; central locking; front seats power adjustable; computer
sensor An immobiliser / car alarm has been added
- A new battery fitted last year
- New front brake pads fitted; new wheel
bearings Cream leather interior - seats in very good condition - carpets A+
Electric aerial works fine
- I have several spares which I'll include
"if the price is right" including spare ECU's, and manuals
- I have classic car insurance for this
jaguar which is really cheap, and the car is valued at £2000 The LPG gas
conversion itself is worth £1600 - a 100L tank holds an operational
80+litres of LPG
- The oil pressure is very good
- The few points of concern on the car are
minor - A small dent on the front bonnet, front edge next to the front grill
with slight associated bubbling; the armrest between the front seats is split
on 1 side which is common and I just didn't get round to picking up another;
the headliner is bowed slightly which is another common thing. There is slight
rust bubbles on rear of nearside front wing
- Email me if you've any questions. This
is a fairly unusual car with its set up of manual transmission and lpg
conversion. Autogas is widely available at many petrol stations. The 4 new
tyres themselves are worth £400! I'll even fill the LPG tank for you! I
wasn't wanting to sell this but I bought a Jaguar XJS as a project, together
with a Humber Hawk and a Humber Sceptre so apart from needing space, I need
respite from my family complaining about the number of cars I have!!! (Theres
another 4 motors kicking about as well)
